Fuente Stories | November 2025

This month’s story features the photography & performance exhibition ECCE CUTIS [Here is the skin].

Through performances and photographic recordings, Davi de Lacerda creates a symbiosis between his own skin and Cristian Lanfranchi's work SKIN, which uses scraps of leather from the fashion industry, artistically transformed through painting and cutting to create sculptural fabrics. However, interacting with the performer, these works are not limited to clothing; they sink into the body, expanding its limits and also stripping it bare.

Cristian Lanfranchi. Visual artist involved in the creation of works in unconventional formats by recovering discarded materials. Extensive professional experience in the fashion world.

Davi de Lacerda. Visual artist. Master of Arts student at the SUR School / Círculo de Bellas Artes / Universidad Carlos III de Madrid. Previous training in medicine (dermatology) and social sciences.

Modesta Gallery. An independent exhibition space for the cultural association Atelier Alzira, with an emphasis on the creation and display of sustainable, non-figurative art.

K:

When I first saw ECCE CUTIS, I was struck by how intimate and unsettling it felt. I was in awe. The power, the light, the contrast. And how effortlessly Cristian’s (second) SKIN looked like an extension of Davi’s bare body.

It made me think about how much of our identity is built on what we show and what we hide. Skin, in this context, becomes more than protection or coverage - it’s communication, memory and history all at once.

There’s a quiet courage in exposing yourself, in allowing others to see what lies underneath the polished exterior. It reminded me that creativity often starts there, in the rawness and fearlessness of being seen.

This month’s story is about that act of exposure. Exhibiting exposure.

Davi and Cristian are ultimately showcasing the act of being shown. They invite us to look closer, to rethink what is surface and what is essence and to recognise that sometimes, art (and life) begins where the skin ends.
